A Bible Conversation

A BIBLE CONVERSATION

Although we met in an on-line group throughout 2022 and for the first part of 2023, from June 2023 we have taken a new approach

  • We meet in person, at the church, on the first and third Tuesday afternoons of each month, from 3.00 to 4.30 pm.
  • This year’s conversations are around St John’s gospel, a book which has helped form much of the church’s understanding of the person of Jesus of Nazareth, our Lord and Saviour. We expect to receive richly in our knowing of God’s gift of salvation and hope.
  • Our meetings are times for conversation rather than deep study. We have chosen a guide – “John for Everyone”, written by the eminent New Testament scholar Tom Wright, and whoever leads the conversation at any meeting uses it to help prepare. But anyone would be able to take part in the conversation if they haven’t read the guide, and although we will have copies available for anyone who wants to have their own, no-one will be obliged to buy it or to read it.
If you would like to join this group come along to one of our meetings, or if you’re not sure feel free to come anyway and try it out, with no obligation to come again.

We hope this will suit many people but realise some who would like to come may not be able to make that time. If you are one of these do talk to Nick or Ian; nothing is set in stone and we realise that we may have to vary times or frequencies of meeting to suit more people. If that does happen it will be announced through this website and in church notices.

John’s gospel itself says it was written so that its readers may come to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing we may have life in his name (John chapter 20 verse 31). May our Bible conversations lead us to fuller life in Jesus’ name!

SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR ADVENT, CHRISTMAS AND EPIPHANY 2023/4:

There will be a one-off special conversation on Tuesday December 5th to discuss what Christmas means to us in the light of New Testament teaching, After that, we will break until January 16th, when we will resume our path with John’s gospel.
