Girls' Brigade

Girls Brigade meet  each term-time Thursday at 5.45pm to 7.15pm

Girls’ Brigade is a national and international Christian charitable organisation that has been preparing girls for life for 120years; it has been here in Whittlesey for nearly 40 years. We meet on a Thursday evening during the school term at 5.45pm-7.15pm; we take girls from the age of 4 years old to 18 years. We aim to give the girls a healthy and safe environment to be able to express themselves while having fun and fulfilling our motto to “Seek, Serve and Follow Christ”. Two of our adults have been with us at Whittlesey since it began and still enjoy their time.

A typical evening can consist of bible stories, games, crafts, chat (both the girls and adults enjoy this), baking and not forgetting a drink and a biscuit; the girls spend time in groups with other girls of a similar age to themselves where they enjoy talking about their days, what has been good and what worries them. The girls complete activities and are rewarded with badges which are presented once a year. At special times of the year such as Christmas, Easter and harvest we have celebratory evenings that are full of fun, laughter and food enjoyed by all. An important part of our evening is our closing circle and prayer time where we come together as a full group and thank God for our time together.

We look forward to many more years of fun and of welcoming new members to Girls’ Brigade.
